What a successful year for Border Reiver Gundogs…

It was a long wait but finally he arrived in late 2021 Mallowdale Game of Border Reiver courtesy of Rytex Gundogs our new boy for trialling and breeding

We mated Charlie to a couple of our older bitches. Firstly, we mated Charlie with FCH Border Reiver Blanchland (Dora) which produced 7 puppies, 5 dogs and 2 bitches, 4 gold, 1 black, and 2 chocolates.

Next, we mated Charlie with Border Reiver Drumlanrig (Coco) which produced 8 chocolate puppies 6 dogs and 2 bitches. Two puppies from this litter were exported to clients overseas in Australia

In October a bitch we bred a few years earlier Border Reiver Dryburgh (Inky) owned by a friend of ours came into season. Using semen, we had imported from Mallowdale Xfactor which had been collected and exported by Elite Kennel Fertility the bitch underwent a TCI procedure which produced a health litter of 8 puppies

We retained a bitch from the first mating of Charlie and Dora and from Inky’s litter to include in our future breeding program

In early 2022 we had the pleasure to work again with Elite Kennel Fertility who undertook the collection of three stud dogs from Rytex Gundogs. Semen from these dogs will be used over the bitches from the last two litters. The semen is now in storage with Elite Kennel Fertility awaiting export…

…In March 2022 we were highly delighted and honoured to be appointed New Zealand Brand Ambassadors for Elite Kennel Fertility. We had worked with Elite Kennel Fertility over a few semen exports. We found their professionalism impeccable and aligned perfectly with our ethos, so it was particularly rewarding to be able to represent them in New Zealand.

We have attended numerous events this year both on the North and South Island promoting the BENEFITS of Elite Kennel Fertility. We judged the SIWSC Championship in April, the WSC Novice in August and in October shall be judging the North Islands Simulated Spaniel Championships

Charlie commenced his trialling career in April 22. We are delighted with his progress over his first year which conclude with him graduating out of novice to become a qualified dog by achieving a 2nd place in Novice and two 3rd places in Championships and 2 Guns Choices at the South Island Working Spaniel Club trials

In June 22 Border Reiver Gundogs had further success with our dogs being placed – 1st 2nd and 3rd at the South Island Working Spaniel Club Novice Trial at Tekapo

To conclude the year, we had major success with a bitch that we bred Arddun Jonquil of Border Reiver (Ivy) winning back-to-back Championships under challenging conditions, to attain the title of Field Champion
